A Special Message to Youth and their Families
“Ministry is not only my job, it’s my passion. I love spending time with you and with your family talking about what it means to be a child of God in the new millennium. My number one priority and responsibility is spending time and getting to know you - whether you're a child, youth or adult.
I love having fun. I love hanging out at soda shops, coffee houses, arcades, concerts, our church youth center , malls, living rooms, wherever. But as your pastor, I am more than a potential chum - I am someone who will not only have fun with you, but will challenge you and support and encourage you.
I want to spend time with you outside of church activities and meetings. Invite me to your ball games and concerts. Let me buy you a soda and let’s talk about what’s going on in your life. Give me a call (or email.)
I am here to come along side and help you in your Christian walk. I don’t want to be walking way out in front, or to be shouting from the back on where the path is. Rather, I want to walk along side, hand in hand. In times of trouble and crisis or when in search for God’s wisdom, we can go through it together. I want to hear what’s going on in your life. I want to know how I and the church can help you in your own journey of faith. I want to pray with you. I want to read the Bible with you. I want to hear your thoughts and concerns and provide any help I can.
I can not do this alone, nor do I want to. You all will be invaluable partners in the church’s ministry. Parents will still continue to be the most influential people in youth’s life. I also believe that the best and strongest Christian Education, is the education that happens at home. We need to find ways that we can work together in this adventure.
